8 Family-Friendly Activities Available while Staying at Victoria House

Are you considering a family vacation in Belize this year? If so, you’ll find no shortage of exciting family-friendly activities when you book your stay at Victoria House Resort & Spa. Our villas and Infinity Suites are ideal for families looking for that extra space and privacy. We also have a special kids’ menu if you plan to dine at the resort during your stay.

If this is your first trip to Belize and you need some inspiration on what to do, we’ve got you covered! Here’s a look at 8 family-friendly activities you can book while staying in San Pedro, Belize.

1. Snorkel at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley

Belize is renowned for its diving and snorkeling, and the Belize Barrier Reef is only a quick boat ride from the Victoria House dock. Your first snorkel spot here will be at Hol Chan Marine Reserve, where you can see schools of colorful fish, beautiful coral formations, and more. You might even spot an eagle ray or sea turtle if you’re lucky. The second stop is Shark Ray Alley. As its name suggests, you’ll see stingrays, nurse sharks, blue tangs, barracudas, and more. While being around stingrays and nurse sharks might sound scary, it’s perfectly safe. Kids of all ages enjoy this close-up view of Belize’s marine life.

2. Book a Private Reef Fishing, Beach BBQ, and Snorkel Tour

Another family fun activity is to book a private tour and spend the day fishing and snorkeling. You’ll start the morning off with reef fishing to catch enough fish for lunch. You might catch snappers, mackerel, horse-eye jacks, and more. After catching enough fish, you’ll head to a secluded beach area where your guide will BBQ your fresh catch. Once you finish lunch, you can head out to the reef again for more fishing or go snorkeling. If you catch additional fish after lunch, bring them back and have our chef create a memorable dinner!

3. Visit Secret Beach

Secret Beach is a fun spot for families to hang out while visiting Ambergris Caye. You’ll either need to take a long golf cart ride or book a Secret Beach boat tour to reach this picturesque spot on the other side of the island. While the golf cart ride is upwards of an hour, it’s a fun opportunity to explore the island. The water at Secret Beach is crystal clear and absolutely calm—perfect for younger kids. There’s also an inflatable water park where kids can climb, jump, and swing over all sorts of obstacles. You can join in on the fun too or find a shady spot along the shore to relax while the young ones burn off some energy.

4. Plan a Spa Day at Victoria House

Our beautiful 3,500-square-foot spa facility is ready to welcome you with our expansive selection of spa treatments. We offer nearly 40 different treatments, including couples’ treatments and ones designed for expectant mothers. You can also arrange treatments on the beach or in our over-the-water palapa. We have a unique selection of “Junior Spa” treatments. Or, we can arrange specially-tailored packages for you and your entire family if you prefer.

5. Take a Discover Scuba Course

Are your children interested in learning to dive? If they aren’t already certified, consider booking a Discover Scuba course. The caveat is they must be at least 12 years old to participate. A Discover Scuba course is also an excellent option for parents who want to try out diving once or twice without going through the formal certification course. You’ll learn some theory, practice some skills, and then go on a shallow one-tank dive inside the reef with a certified dive instructor. You’ll see some remarkable marine life while still being close to the surface.

6. Fly Over the Blue Hole

If you aren’t serious divers or the idea of a long and bumpy boat ride at 6 AM doesn’t sound like your idea of fun, consider booking an aerial tour of the Blue Hole. Depending on the number of people in your group, you could even charter a private plane or a helicopter. Belize’s airlines offer regularly scheduled one-hour Blue Hole aerial tours departing Monday through Friday. Even if you’ve been diving at the Blue Hole, seeing it from the sky is an entirely different thrilling experience.

7. Enjoy the Complimentary Amenities at Victoria House

When you book a stay at Victoria House, you’ll have complimentary access to bicycles and kayaks. You can also rent a stand up paddle board for a nominal per-hour fee. Kids love our two main pools and exploring the shallow waters along the resort’s dock. You’ll have access to your own private pool when you book one of the two larger private beachfront villas at Victoria House (Casa Playa Blanca and Casa Azul). If you want a golf cart for the day or your entire stay, we can arrange that for you as well.

8. Plan a Day on Belize’s Mainland

The great thing about Belize is you’re never too far away from anything in the country. Even if you stay at Victoria House your entire vacation, we can help you book day trips to the mainland. You’ll spend the day exploring the rainforest or ancient Maya sites and still be back home in time for dinner with us. Several more popular options include the Belize Zoo, Lamanai Maya Site, or an afternoon of zip-lining and cave tubing.
