Belize might be well known as a tropical destination with beautiful beaches and Mayan history, but we’re also home to an incredible amount of wildlife. From the diverse marine life populating the Belize Barrier Reef to elusive jaguars in the jungle, Belize provides habitats to a whole range of wildlife, including birds.
Our national bird is the keel-billed toucan, but nearly 600 species of birds call Belize home. Over 200 can be spotted right here on Ambergris Caye, many from the grounds right here at Victoria House. Our birding tour takes you on a boat ride to a different side of the island where many diverse birds can be seen.
Belize has also started its own Birding Festival, with 2019 marking its second year. Taking place in San Ignacio, the festival includes bird walks, exhibitions, key note speakers, and more.
