Our Top 5 Must Do Activities: San Pedro, Ambergris Caye

Snorkel with Sharks at Hol Chan Marine Reserve

Not an everyday experience! But once you’ve scratched it off your bucket list, your bragging rights will certainly sky rocket! From sea turtles, to sting rays and nurse sharks, be prepared to spot them all. Not only will you have the chance to spot them in their natural habitat, but also you will be able to snorkel side-by-side these amazing sea creatures. It is this natural encounter that makes this experience top on our list.

Scuba Dive the Blue Hole

Located at the center of Lighthouse Reef, this World Heritage site measures 1000 feet across and 412 feet deep. Fascinating marine life is one of the many charms that lure scuba divers to explore the giant stalactites and dripstone at this dive site.

This dive is on many scuba diver’s wish list, as the Blue Hole is a world recognized icon in Belize. Jacques-Yves Cousteau, ocean explorer, contributed to reveal the secrets of the Blue Hole via it’s television series “The Undersea World of Jacques-Yves Cousteau”.

Bacalar Chico National Park & Marine Reserve

Bacalar Chico is a protected area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the northern part of Ambergris Caye in Belize. This national park offers natural wonders both on sea and land. It is home to diverse array of wildlife and is perfect for those seeking to be in touch with nature.

Marco Gonzales Maya Site

A somewhat unorthodox Maya site, not grand in nature but in it’s uniqueness is located south of Ambergris Caye. Not a well-known Maya site but one that offers a distinctive view of the Mayas and their habitat whilst on an island. Many of their structures, utensils and artifacts found here are marine based. This site is certainly a twist compared to all the inland Maya sites that are found in the area.

Go on a Morning Kayaking Trip

Early mornings are best in Ambergris Caye for two reasons. The sunrise and the crystal clear waters. This activity is sure to substitute your morning work-out, but it also offers a pleasant scenic view as you glide through the Caribbean waters.

I bet you never knew about all the exciting activities that can be done on an island, certainly not any island, but on San Pedro, Ambergris Caye!
