Don’t Just Take Our Word for it

More than ever today we look to our friends, family and yes, sometimes even the words of strangers, to tell us about their authentic experiences at resorts around the world.

A wedding is a time when you expect the best service, the best food, the best accommodation – so who better to hear from than those that have already put their trust in us at Victoria House and let us be part of their special day. We can be offered no greater compliment than those which come from our treasured guests.

We got married in Victoria house on 02nd Dec, 2015. We chose the elopement package on offer from the hotel website. From initial contact with Javier a few months before the ceremony right through to the day of the ceremony we cannot commend the staff enough on their professionalism and kindness. They organized everything for us – meeting with the justice of the peace a few days before the wedding, beautiful local flowers, an amazing meal overlooking the ocean and much more.

On the day of the ceremony Abi was a really calming influence on a nervous bride! Her lovely smile calmed me down! Javier was always at hand for any issues which may have arose – but because of his thorough planning there were no issues! Everything went as planned and we felt truly relaxed and delighted with the day. The hotel itself is a wonderful setting and we chose the gardens for our ceremony – it provides a fantastic backdrop for the wedding photographs. For the week we were there ours was the only wedding which made it feel very special.

We would like to specially mention and thank the very helpful Luis (at the dive shop). We were really looking forward to going manatee watching the day after our wedding but unfortunately there were no trips going from Ambergris Caye that day. Luis kindly organized us to join a day trip leaving from Caye Caulker – he put in a lot of effort making calls etc to sort the trip for us and we really appreciated it.

We would highly recommend Victoria house for any couple planning their wedding. Javier, Abi and Luis made our stay and experience a really great one but we could not fault any member of staff, all were extremely courteous and helpful. The manager Brett runs a truly wonderful hotel!

Mairead & Padraic, December 2015

When we decided to elope at Victoria House, we knew we would be starting our new life together in a beautiful, peaceful setting. However, our experience at VH 100% exceeded our expectations and was the experience of a lifetime! We cannot say enough about VH! Everything from booking our reservation with Marshall, to planning excursions with Jose and receiving impeccable service from Tony, Hugh, Justin and Roxy at the Admiral Nelson bar, Javier (our wedding coordinator) made our wedding the most special, stress-free day of our lives! The grounds were absolutely gorgeous and the staff catered to our every need. We will cherish our VH wedding memories forever, we made life-long friendships during our stay, we truly received the royal treatment from staff and we cannot wait to return! I would not plan a wedding any other way than eloping to VH!

Bridget & Royal Webster, December 2015

My husband and I were married at Victoria House on Ambergris Caye on Nov. 7, 2015. I was a nervous bride only because we were making wedding arrangements from the states and suspected there would probably be some craziness doing this across the sea. I couldn’t have been more wrong. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we were treated like royalty by the most phenomenally friendly people who could not do enough for us.I’d like to single out Javier and Christina for being extra wonderful to us!!

We made every bit of our wedding arrangements with Javier over the phone and in email and I may have driven him batty with all of my specifics but he never let on and was wonderfully supportive and excited for us. He took care of arranging the most beautiful set up on the beach with a fabulous wooden canopy and an aisle composed of the most gorgeous flowers and conch shells. He also made all the arrangements regarding our wedding cake, bouquets, hair dresser and makeup and wedding dinner. When we got to Belize he took us everywhere we needed to go and even took care of getting our marriage license and it couldn’t have possibly been any easier on us. Our wedding occurred on the beach on the most perfect day with the most gorgeous weather. The forecast predicted 80% chance of thunderstorms but they were so wrong.

The wedding itself was everything I dreamed it would be…just my new husband, my son and daughter in law to be. The guitarist we arranged for was terrific, the justice of the peace gave the most beautiful tender wedding service and our photographer, Oli Ruso took the most incredible pictures we have ever seen. Now we have the most beautiful memories and we miss everyone at Victoria House who made our stay so special. We plan to come back to celebrate our first anniversary! Many many thanks to all who had a part in making our vacation/wedding/honeymoon so very special. We will never forget you!

The Victoria house in Belize is one of the most beautiful and romantic hotels in the world. We first visited 4 years ago when we were beginning to develop a serious relationship. When it came time to marry, we were certain that the Victoria House’s amazing service levels would insure that our wedding would be easy and beautiful. We were right.

First, everything is taken are of by Javier. We choose the date, time, and location (beach). VH coordinated our visit with the JP to get all of the documents completed and officiate at the wedding itself, selected flowers and our dinner menu on the pier. VH also put us into contact with the photographer and helped arrange hair and makeup visits on site for my bride that morning. Everything went off perfectly.

In short, if you want to get married on a beautiful tropical island and want everything arranged perfectly for you, the Victoria House makes that perfection simple and easy.

Mr. & Mrs. Barnes, September 2015

The Victoria House far exceeded any expectations we had for our wedding ceremony and the weekend wedding activities! We had heard how stressful weddings (in general) can be, but we can honestly say that we had no stress at the Victoria House and thoroughly enjoyed every moment.

While starting the planning process for our wedding, we quickly realized that finding a destination for a wedding is no easy feat. We had a wish-list that was, admittedly, nearly impossible to find at a single location. First, we really wanted a tropical destination, but it needed to be accessible for our friends and family. We were also looking for a venue that was elegant, but laid back. And, on top of that, we hoped for accommodations large enough for all of our guests (80ish), but small enough to maintain an intimate atmosphere. We found all of this and more at VH!

The entire weekend felt incredibly special and the experience was enhanced by the food, views, accommodations, and wonderful staff. Our party started on Thursday, when the Victoria House organized a Welcome Party for our guests which included rum punch and ceviche. It was the perfect way to set the tone for the weekend. Great food and drinks continued throughout the weekend as we enjoyed the local flavors and fabulously prepared food at the wedding reception as well as our Sunday brunch.

The wedding ceremony was both romantic and picturesque and the reception was intimate but filled with great times and plenty of tequila. We’d highly suggest dining on the sand and dancing under the stars.

In addition to the wedding festivities, our guests took full advantage of the variety of activities offered at the resort. It is a special feeling to see so many people you love in one location all while being so happy and relaxed. Everyone found something they loved including lounging by the pool, swinging in the hammocks, enjoying massages over the water, or fishing off the pier. Several guests even organized snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing excursions through the VH Dive Shop while the close proximity to San Pedro allowed some to venture out and enjoy other activities about town.

If we had the opportunity to do it all over, we wouldn’t change a thing! Everyone at the Victoria House was super helpful and went out of their way to make the weekend as memorable as possible. Although the entire staff at VH deserves a special thanks – Javier, Oscar and Liz were extremely helpful in organizing the special events and coordinating the travel and accommodations. We have nothing but the best memories from the weekend and plenty of pictures and videos to help us relive it. The Victoria House should definitely be considered for any destination wedding.

Where to even begin? We are not sure, but even when we dreamed of our “perfect” wedding we never imagined it would be this amazing. Truly there are not words to describe how perfectly wonderful and amazing our wedding day was, it was the perfect beginning to the rest of our lives together! When we came to Victoria House last year, we fell in love with the grounds and the staff immediately. Planning a wedding close to home, let alone in another country, can be very stressful for any bride and groom, but never once did we worry about anything being taken care of with Javier at the helm!

Bringing 30 people with us, we were worried about everyone else falling in love with Ambergris Caye like we did, but thanks to everyone at Victoria House ALL 30 of them can’t wait to come back (be prepared, there is talk of a reunion there)! From booking rooms with Donald to working out the smallest details of the wedding day with Javier and Oscar everyone and their needs were taken care of, allowing us to feel like the only guests Victoria House had for those few days! The service for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception to the service we got while lounging around the pool and sitting in the bar or restaurant was top notch. Not only was it wonderful service from the moment we arrived at the San Pedro airport to the time we left, but the cuisine was so spectacular that our guests are still raving about it; it is unusual to still hear people talking about it weeks later!

We have been home for a few weeks now, but every time we look at a picture or hear a story about our trip it takes us right back to the amazing Victoria House! It truly is a home away from home and we can’t wait to spend many anniversaries with our friends and family of Victoria House.

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for starting our lives together in such a wonderful fashion!

Speaking for our family, we enjoyed every minute of our stay at Victoria House and have already recommended you to friends. Thanks for taking such good care of our son and his bride during their wedding celebration. I’m sure you’ll hear from the Peju family separately, but from our experience it could not have been better.

Congratulations on an exceptional, hospitable staff. From the initial greeting to the final good-byes, they were friendly, gracious and attentive.

All best,

Lynne Devereux, February 2011

I recently returned after spending 11 days at Victoria House and my experience was nothing short of spectacular. Fourteen of my family members traveled to Ambergris Caye to celebrate my wedding. Of the 14, two were teenagers and two were elementary-aged. All 14 of us agreed that this was, by far, the best resort on the island and the best vacation any of us have ever been on.

From the moment I booked the vacation last summer to the time I was dropped off for my departure at Tropic Air, every detail was meticulously addressed by a variety of the hotel staff. It’s tough planning a wedding when you are thousands of miles away but Javier made it simple. He was always available to answer any question I may have had over the past several months and was always eager to help and/or make a suggestion. Once I arrived, he brought in the most equisite flowers (freshly cut that morning) and allowed my now-husband and I the opportunity to choose whichever flower we liked. When I forgot to order the wedding cake (oops!), Javier kindly made the order for me. (The chocolate cake from Amy Knox is to die for!) Javier even arranged to have Carlos, the best hairstylist and makeup artist in Belize, come to my casita the day of the wedding to style myself and my mother. He too was a gem. Javier paid attention to every detail and I credit him for allowing me to have the most perfect wedding imaginable. (They even raked the area where the ceremony was being held right before the event and decorated the area beautifully – these are just a few of the details that separate Victoria House from the others.)

Several reviews discuss the excellent staff; however they are even better in person. As I mentioned, there were 14 of us staying at the resort. Each staff member made it a point to learn each of our names, and even knew our likes and dislikes. Not only are they all polite and personable, but they are all very hard workers. From the men who rake the beach each morning, to the gardeners who are constantly planting flowers, everyone works their hardest to make Victoria House the best resort in Belize.

Of all of the staff, however, Leonel and Miguel stood out the most. Both men were right there when we needed something and graciously adhered to any of our requests. They also got along very well with my husband and I, and our children.

My family and I stayed in a variety of rooms. The teenagers stayed in the state rooms, which were great in value. The views were great and the bathrooms were spacious. I initially stayed in a casita, which was very charming. The chairs and hammock out front were great. The casita was just the right size and was really neat looking. After the wedding, we upgraded to the Rainforest Suite, which was wonderful. The bed was very large and comfortable, the bathroom was also very large and it had plenty of seating inside and out. It was lovely being able to wake up and watch the sunrise from bed. A few of my relatives stayed in the Palmetto Rooms, which they liked very much.

Rooms come with a continental breakfast, which consists of two slices of freshly baked bread (amazing!) and three freshly baked muffins. The flavors change daily. All were delicious. We ate at the Palmilla Restaurant several times and everything we had there was delicious as well.

The hotel provides free bicycles to guests. You could also rent golf carts on site. We took advantage of both offerings several times.

The pools are very clean and refreshing, and the beach is gorgeous. The staff clear the seagrass and brush that washes up daily. There is also a roped off area at the end of the pier where guests can swim. The dive shop kindly lent the kids snorkel gear several times during our stay so they could search for sting rays and the moray eel.

I could probably write forever but I will end this review now. If you are debating over where to stay, this should be your pick. Nothing on Ambergris Caye even remotely compares to Victoria House – location, staff, food, grounds, rooms – all are top notch. I was there for 11 days and felt like I was in paradise at every moment. Again, nothing compares to Victoria House. I cannot wait to return.

To the staff at Victoria House – thank you again for giving me the best wedding imaginable.

Jenn & Todd, February 2011

We wanted a wedding with our closest friends and family, not too formal, not too traditional and found the perfect destination: Victoria House is absolutely beautiful and was the perfect size and style resort for our 25 people wedding. The team around Javier and Oscar took loads of planning stress off our shoulders and were our de facto wedding planners. From the first to the last minute everyone was genuinely focused on us and our happiness, not on “selling us a wedding” like some full time wedding planners are. All our guests absolutely loved the trip, we stayed within our budget and everything worked out perfectly. We will come back for many anniversaries!

Javier-

I just wanted to thank you again for an absolutely perfect dream come true for my daughter Cassidy and her new husband Sean. Our stay with you on your island and at your resort was absolutely above board. We could find zero things wrong with our entire week. In fact, when we first arrived, Sean’s aunt cried for 20 minutes because she was overwhelmed with the beauty.

You couldn’t have put together a more perfect wedding for the kids. It was so simple, stress-free, and immaculate. The whole family has such a beautiful memory to hold forever.

Thank you again for such a beautiful beginning of Cassi and Sean’s life together.
