Answers for the Most Common Inquiries
Victoria House is located in Belize on the island of Ambergris Caye, just two miles south of the town of San Pedro.
The easiest way to reach Victoria House is by a short, 15 minute flight from Belize City. The two local air carriers are Tropic Air and Maya Island Air. Both carriers have several daily flights from both Belize International Airport (BZE) and the domestic Municipal Airstrip.
Once you arrive to the San Pedro Airstrip, we can pick you up (must be pre-arranged) or by taxi that we will cover the cost for.
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and check-out is 12:00 noon.
It is best to bring cash for dining and shopping while in San Pedro, and preferably in Belize or US dollars. The typical exchange rate is 2 Belize dollars for every US dollar.
Make sure you ask shop keepers and restaurants if their prices are in US or Belize dollars to avoid any unfortunate miscommunications.
Expect your change to be in Belize dollars regardless of what currency you purchased with.
While some establishments do accept credit cards, it is generally easier to use cash. All incidental charges at the Victoria House (bar, massage, dining, activities, etc.) are charged to your room and are settled upon check out.
There are banks in nearby San Pedro where you can access an ATM, or get currency exchanged.
We have a gift shop at Victoria House Resort & Spa that will have necessities, such as toiletry items, for purchase. If our gift shop does not have the item you desire, guests are able to visit a store outside of the resort as long as the store is in the Safe Corridor and is Gold Standard certified.
All of our rooms feature an in room safe, mini-bars, custom bathrobes and toiletries. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available around our main pool and bar areas. In order to escape and relax while at Victoria House, only our villas and select suites feature TV’s in the rooms.
We have our own Admiral Nelson’s pub that can assist you with a quick, refreshing drink once you arrive.
If you want to buy other products, there are liquor stores in nearby San Pedro.
We’d be happy to fill up your ice bucket at our Admiral Nelson’s Pub.
Water is a very important item to ask about during any extended vacation. San Pedro and water to Ambergris Caye is treated, filtered, and safe. We use city water here at Victoria House.
Make yourself very aware of the water source wherever you are off site at a nightclub, restaurant, or street vendor.
We recommend buying bottled water to avoid any unpleasant outcome.

In a tropical climate sunscreen is definitely recommended. Insects are way of life so bringing insect repellent and after-bite remedies are also recommended.
If you do not pack any, you will be able to pick these items up in San Pedro – but don’t expect the same prices you might pay back home.
Guests may check out bicycles or golf carts from Victoria House, or may use taxis at their leisure to travel around Ambergris Caye.
Belize International Airport (BZE) has non-stop service from the U.S. on United Airlines, Delta, American, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Air, Jet Blue. From Canada- WestJet, Air Canada. Within Central/South America – Tropic Air, Tag, Copa.
The Belize Departure Tax is approximately $40. US. This fee is normally included in your international airfare. If you have any specific questions, please contact your carrier.
For U.S. and Canadian visitors, a valid passport is required for entry into Belize. For visitors from other countries, a Visa may be required. For details please visit www.travelbelize.org

Yes, there is cellular service available on Ambergris Caye in San Pedro. You may want to check with your cellular service carrier to ensure that service is provided in this specific area of Belize.
You will also want to check with your carrier prior to departure about the charges to use your cellular service in Belize, as roaming fees can be steep!
