Victoria House Resort & Spa is located approximately two miles south of San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye. As the largest island in Belize, Ambergris Caye has much to offer, including incredible restaurants, nightlife, excursions, or just relaxation on the beach.
About Ambergris Caye, Belize
Ambergris Caye is a small, charming island situated just south of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, bordered on the west by Guatemala, and north of Honduras. It is the largest of the 200+ islands of Belize at 25 miles long, and is made up of mangroves, sand, and lagoons. Victoria House is located on the south section of the island, which is divided by a river.
Victoria House and Ambergris Caye is also only one mile from the Belize Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world, with coral reefs you can see right up to the nearby shore of our beach, making it easy to find on a snorkel or dive. Scuba diving is a world-famous pastime in this part of Belize, and divers and snorkelers alike can enjoy the fantastic scenery of places like the Hol-Chan Marine Reserve just a short boat ride away.
It’s Easy to Get to Ambergris Caye
Around 35 miles offshore from Belize City, the easiest way to reach Ambergris Caye is by a 15-minute commuter flight with two main airlines: Tropic Air www.tropicair.com and Maya Island Air www.mayaislandair.com. Both carriers have a variety of aircraft, but the primary airplanes used for the flight from Belize International BZE to San Pedro SPR are 14-passenger Cessna Caravans.
Once your reservations to Belize City are made, our Victoria House staff will gladly assist you with arranging the connecting flights. You will need to provide us with the names of everyone traveling in your party, your arrival time, and your eventual departure times. We can often quote you airfare rates, which include ground transfer from the San Pedro Airstrip to/from Victoria House.
Upon clearing customs and immigration in San Pedro, a Victoria House staff member will meet you and drive you back to the resort. In the unfortunate event of a delay or our inability to pick you up a rare occurrence, we will arrange for a taxi in front of the terminal to take you directly to Victoria House, where our helpful front desk staff will immediately take care of the taxi fare.
You can also travel by water taxi from Belize City. Call us directly, and we’ll help you with schedules and pricing. You’ll first need to take a land-based taxi from the airport to the water taxi terminal in Belize City.
Once you have purchased your ticket, the boat ride is about 1.5 hours, and the last boat leaves Belize City around 4pm, please note that seasonal adjustments are common.
When you arrive in San Pedro, the easiest way to Victoria House is by land-based taxi.
